hello, world!
my name is abigail[※], i use she / they pronouns. i'm a computer scientist and scientific researcher. i have been programming as a hobby since i was 6 years old, and professionally since i was 14.
i'm a masters student in computer science and engineering at eindhoven university of technology, where i focus on visual computing, big data, and machine learning. i completed my bachelors in computer science and mathematics at swansea university, and previously studied quantum computing with a scholarship from IBM.
my thesis is in collaboration with the european space agency and the euclid consortium, where i will be creating renderings of large-scale cosmic super structure ("the cosmic web"), as mapped by the euclid space telescope, as well as improving red-shift calculation algorithms for the telescope's data pipeline.
i'm also a navigation engineer for TU/e's submarine engineering student team, Abyss.
as you can probably tell based on my thesis topic and ongoing projects, i hugely enjoy astrophysics, and more generally anything science-related. it should therefore come as no surprise that my long-term goal is to be an astronaut :)

as for ¬(digital ∨ academic)-things: i have lived in 4 different countries (i currently live in The Netherlands ), have visited 25, and have been to 3 continents. i enjoy travelling, experiencing new cultures, and meeting people.
i fell in love with the ocean and swimming when i lived in Cyprus; competing in some swimming competitions. outside of swimming, i've also completed the ssi open water diving certification; which allows me to dive up to 18 meters into the depths of the ocean, experiencing a pressure of 281.8kPA!
i also enjoy archery, though rarely find time for it anymore :( i made a watch list of anime's, movies, and tv shows that i enjoy or plan on watching, it includes reviews for some of them.
